 Dear Bishop,

I am very grateful to you for the sensitive way in which you wrote. You should know that we take these issues extremely seriously and that both Beverley Hughes and I want to resolve both the issue of this particular family as quickly as possible as well as ensuring that facilities and conditions are appropriate for everyone and that cases are dealt with as quickly as possible.

I was sorry that I was not able to meet you on the day you were able to come to London. I think that your suggestion of presenting it to Helen Liddell is very appropriate and she will then pass the signatures to me.

 Best wishes,

DAVID BLUNKETT
